NOTE: It is not recommended to conduct bloom testing with load cells greater than 1500g.
On instruments with load cells 10kg or higher, the bloom test will not appear on the
menu.

The operator sets the trigger value, target deformation (travel distance into the sample) and the test
speedusingtheTPAmenuscreen:

The operator depresses the start button to begin the test. In a TPA test the compression and return
strokes of both cycles occur at the programmed test speed. Target deformation for both cycles begins
atthetriggerpositionoftherstcycle.

Hardness1isthepeakloadoftherstcompressioncycle.
Hardness2 is the peak load of the second compression cycle.
Cohesiveness is the ratio of A2/A1. A2 is the area under the compression stoke of the second cycle
andA1istheareaunderthecompressionstokeoftherstcycle.Ifthestructureofthesampleis
completelydestroyedontherstcompression,thisratioiszero.Ifthesampleisperfectlyelasticand
notdamagedatallbytherstcompressionthisratiois1.0Mostfoodproductswillfallsomewhere
in between 0 and 1.
